I'm in IT, but I want to be an artist
I went into IT because it aligned with my hobbies growing up, but the reality of working in the field turned out to be quite different. I know I can put some great stuff together and solve a lot of problems, but that's not what professional IT is, especially in today's world. The IT professional of today is just a garbage monger slinging unnecessary, expensive, and inappropriate solutions around. We do this because a proper solution to most IT problems isn't found in the technology, but in the people who are using it. Throwing money at the computer is easy, affecting people is hard. Most of your SaaS platforms could be replaced with a spreadsheet, but we will never again see such a beautiful future
My Skillset
I'm really good at quickly figuring things out. I believe this is what sets me apart.
I can do the usual LAN stuff. I redid the whole network at one of my schools-- switches, firewall, camera system, the works.
My education comes from Cisco's program. School was the last time I touched a Cisco product. Since then I've worked in education using Google Workspace and a thousand terrible platforms that only educators could think are worth it.
